Recently, in December 2010, the Truth in Caller ID act was signed into law. The FCC has until June of 2011 to draft and implement the regulations related to this act. The act makes it illegal to knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information and authorizes fines of up to $10,000 per violation up to a total of $1,000,000.
